Recent Inbound/Outbound Train Stories

Here are my most recent stories from taking the train.

Cranky People

I rode into the City yesterday to meet a friend for a matinée. Local trains are not my favorite way to travel but beggars can't be choosers. Apparently I read the schedule wrong originally and would have been late if... Read this story »

The Under 30 Rule

From what I overheard one passenger say to another, once the temperature drops below 30 degrees, you have a 50/50 chance of the train being late. And once it gets over maybe 90 degrees, it seems the same rule applies.... Read this story »

Dusting Off The Cobwebs

So I've been little MIA lately. A big shout-out to my buddy "D" for prodding me to kick this back into gear. For the past bunch of months the commute has been crazy as usual. It really is a hole... Read this story »

Changing Routes

Yesterday was my last day taking the same route I've traveled for the last two and a half years! Starting Monday, I will be riding the train north just as they start their new schedule. At least the full (blue)... Read this story »

Crazy Few Commuting Days

The nor'easter has come and gone but we're not quite back to normal yet. I worked from home Monday and it was a good thing that I did. Many local roads were closed, my connecting train station was under some... Read this story »

I borrowed Mom's car Monday because mine was in the shop. She called me this morning as she got into her car to say that I left my parking permit in her car! By the time she got to the... Read this story »

Dogs and Big Guns

It's not everyday that I walk up to my train station only to see a bunch of big "government issue" type cars, state police cars, dogs and guys with very big guns. Before I saw the officers, I was already... Read this story »

Pick A Card, Any Card

It's time for another full moon cycle. After a day of some soul searching and barely restful main train ride, I settled into the back seat for the final leg. A guy sat across the isle from me and started... Read this story »

Slept Through My Stop

Apparently not only was I having a bad day today, but I was also more tired than I realized. I slept through my connecting stop. In theory this really shouldn't have been possible because it's the end of the line... Read this story »

Quiet for a Full Moon

There is usually something about a full moon that brings out the strange behavior in people. Considering we’re mostly made of water and the moon affects the tides, I’m sure there’s a correlation. Even if you don’t buy into the... Read this story »

What is the Stupid Train Run?

Regular commuters will know it as we've all done it from time to time. Running late just enough that if you sprint, you'll catch that train, but wait... Those leather, hard-soled shoes are from cross-trainers. Suite pants are not suitable running attire either. Don't forget the briefcases and lunch bags waiting you down. So the result is this goofy looking run. Oh, and there are bunch of people watching you too. But like I said, it all happens to us at one time or another.
